To create animations that are both compelling and scientifically-accurate, EDM Studio adheres to a time-tested development process (clickable image sequence at left):

- Storyboard (20%)
- Animatic (10%)
- Wireframe (30%)
- Render and Composite (30%)
Notice that typically 40% of the effort is expended before digital production (wireframe) begins. Why is this? In animation, each and every rendered frame requires a significant investment in time and money. Having a team of animators develop the story "on the fly" is a guaranteed way of wasting resources. By investing heavily in pre-production, all members of the animation team - along with the stakeholders - have a common vision before digital creation begins in earnest.
EDM Studio's success results from three key factors:
Communication: Ongoing, frequent, and transparent discussions with the client and other stakeholders. How many times has someone shown you a near-finished work ostensibly seeking feedback but really looking for affirmation? We surprise the audience, not the client.
Iteration: Within each phase of development (see image sequence at left), we use cycles of incremental change and client feedback. This evolutionary approach allows for exploration and discovery while minimizing the potential for waste.
