Success in research science depends as much on effective communication as it does on technical competency. As a scientist, I appreciate the complexities of conveying complex research concepts to students, granting agencies, government, businesses, the general public, and even to other colleagues whose backgrounds can differ greatly. Good visualizations offer a communication bridge. In the past, I have used students and animation trainees.
